Cash for junk box trucks, semis and commercial vehicles

Do you buy junk box trucks and semi trucks?

Yes. S & H Cash for Junk Cars Corp. buys junk box trucks, cutaway vans, semi tractors, trailers and other commercial vehicles from Markham and the nearby south suburbs, running or not. We arrange the right tow for the vehicle at no cost to you, and you're paid at pickup in cash, Zelle or Cash App.

Commercial vehicles come off the road for business reasons as often as mechanical ones. A box truck fails an inspection and the repair isn’t worth it on a truck that age. A semi throws a rod a long way from home and gets towed back to the yard. A small business closes and the delivery truck sits behind the building. We buy all of these, along with the trailers that go with them.

What we buy

  • Box trucks and straight trucks, with or without liftgates, including cutaway vans with a box on the back.
  • Semi tractors, day cabs and sleepers.
  • Trailers: dry vans, reefers, flatbeds and others, with or without the tractor.
  • Other work vehicles: step vans, stake beds, dump bodies and old service trucks.

Pickups, cargo vans and work SUVs are on the trucks, vans and SUVs page.

What to have ready

  • The title. Trucks are titled like any other vehicle, and the Secretary of State says trailers “of all kinds and sizes” are titled too (SOS title FAQ). A truck that runs interstate may carry another state’s title, which Illinois allows (625 ILCS 5/3-102). Either way, a scrap buyer has to see an ownership document before buying (625 ILCS 5/5-401.3).
  • Authority to sign. If a company owns the truck, the person signing has to be able to sign for that company.
  • A lien release if a lender is still listed. Financed trucks often still have one. Our guide to selling with a loan in Illinois has the payoff deadlines.
  • Plates and registration. Take the plates off before pickup. A fleet that runs in several states may be on proportional (IRP) registration, where Illinois issues plates that mark each truck as part of an interstate fleet (625 ILCS 5/3-402.1). If yours is, ask your registration service or the Secretary of State how to take the sold truck off the fleet.

Pickup realities

Big trucks sit in truck yards, behind warehouses, at the back of business lots and sometimes in a driveway they barely fit. Access decides how the pickup goes, so tell us:

Tell us Why
Type, length and axles A box truck and a tractor-trailer need different tows.
Whether it rolls and steers Locked wheels or a missing driveshaft change the plan.
Air pressure on air-brake trucks No air means the spring brakes are set.
Gate hours and yard rules Many yards need notice or an escort.
Overhead and turning room Canopies, wires and tight turns at the entrance.

These vehicles need a different tow than a car does, and we arrange the right one for each pickup.

How commercial vehicles are priced

Weight is the starting point, and these are the heaviest vehicles we buy. After that the same things count as with any vehicle: what’s still on it, which parts can be reused, and the metal market that week. A working engine, transmission or reefer unit can add to the number. A blown engine doesn’t rule a truck out; our guide on whether to fix or sell after a blown engine helps you weigh it.

Where we pick up

Our location sits on Crawford Avenue in Markham, close to I-57 and the Tri-State, and we buy commercial vehicles from yards and lots in Harvey, Posen and the rest of our service areas. For the makes we see, from Isuzu to Freightliner, see makes we buy.

Send the year, make and model through the quote form and add the details on the call, or phone (773) 317-1211.

Questions about this

Do you buy a trailer without the tractor?
Yes. Dry vans, reefers, flatbeds and other trailers on their own are fine. Tell us the length, the axle count and where it's parked.
The truck is titled to my company. Who signs?
Someone authorized to sign for the business named on the title. Have the title and that person's ID ready, plus a lien release if a lender is listed.
Can you take several trucks from one yard?
Yes. Describe each vehicle on the call and we'll plan the pickups and price them together.
The semi won't build air. Is that a problem?
No, but tell us. A tractor without air pressure has its spring brakes set, which changes how it's moved.
